Today's session...I'm drained

Ok, I don't even feel like writing right now but I was once again convinced otherwise by a friend (BH...LOL). My day started @ 11 Am by a phone call from my girl group's manager. I was scheduled to record with them @ 1PM so he was making sure that I would be ready and on time. I really wanted to push the sesion back a lil but the members were travelling from out of town so I really forced myself to get up and prepare. I arrived @ the studio @ maybe 1:45 (thats the music industy on-time) but it was cool because everyone else involved in the session just got there too. It was about 200 degrees outside so I was more than eager to sit under the 60 degrees ac which is normal for the studio. Everything is going great, the girls are singing nice, my vibe is definitely there. 90% of the song is done and coming out way greater then expected, then guess what...................the damn power shuts off !! Bzzzbzz..... sucks !! Now the room is cookin from the heat creepin through the door cracks but thats not the main issue. I just hoped that all of my files had enough time to save onto my hard drive before the power failure. Now I'm sweating even more, It's starting to feel like I was joggin around the equator with a plastic sweat suit and wool hat on. 1 hr later, still no power or music. The ice pops that we put in the freezer from earlier turned into kool-aid from the heat. No lie, it was sooo hot in there that when I went outside to get some air I started shivering.. LOL I was like, WTF.. tune in tomorrow for the rest of the story, I'm too tired to finish right now and also, I have another session @ 1pm...goodnight..Sorry....For the series of events, Please Read the pics below !!

Yo I'm Back - Today is Fathers Day 2007

It's been a long time since my last entry but I'm back. This mission was the Hot 97 Summer Jam on June 3rd. Me and Puff were working on that particular show for over 3 weeks with the edits and stuff and also figuring out a nice setlist for the audience. That's the hard part, considering he has has a shit load of hits but we can't do all of them in our 30 min allowed running time. It rained heavily during the entire outdoor concert at Giant Stadium but I must say, everyone pulled it of. The line up consisted of Diddy, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Neyo, Swizz beats, T-Pain, Akon, Rich Boy, Mims, and....errr, I know I'm missing some names but I was working that day. As a matter of fact, I was working my ass off that day with my regular show routine of Pro-tools editing and operating, making sure Puff's sound is right during the performance, and the overall music part of his set. I actually video taped the process of putting the show together, from the ideas to the editing and rehersals so people can see the hard work and stress we go through just to entertain. Well, I was doing like 10 jobs on that particular day because we were having various issue from last minute set changes to video sync not locking to vocals but at the end of the day we made it happen. Our set was about 30 min including our special guests Elephant Man, Yung Joc, T.I. and Dro, Keisha Cole, The LOX and Lil Kim. Happy Fathers Day to all the dads . Today im doing a little BBQ in my backyard. I have some marinated jerk chicken, burgers, chops, and rice and beans waiting to sizzle up! I've been grilling almost every other day now that the weather is nice. I'm also making some chicken breats with my special secret dry spice rub so Visit tomorrow for the pictures and video to watch Mr Chef Dofat get busy on the grill. Food Network, look out!!! BAMM !!!!

Whats up everybody? Been busy these past couple of weeks editing this Diddy Summer Jam show here in NY but it'll be over on June 3rd. I'll post the video clips of us working and preparing for the show after the 3rd because we have a lot of top secret suprises that I cant expose prior to the performance. Going to bed at 5:42 AM

Just got in from the studio now. Tonight, I worked on a song that Mims did with one of my rap groups, "The Country Boyz" thats signed to my label. I'm going to service radio in their home town, Little Rock within a week or so. I just gotta finish the hook and then mix it. I've been working the graveyard shift for the past week also producing my new Girl Band and finishing my album, "The Dofat Experience". Singer Christopher Williams stopped by the studio a few days ago and did some ad libs on my single "Do Me Like That". You'll get a chance to see that on a video clip. I just started the Video Blog thing and will post my first 3 episodes tomorrow. You'll get to see me at work doing my thing. The cool thing about my video blog is that I'm the one that's actually doing the camera work so you'll get to see things from my point of view. Oh yeah, I have Foxy's video complete, It's hilarious. ......


........She's laying right under me as I type on the laptop on my bed. So, I'm going to sleep now. I'll post that other shit when I wake up today.....

I caught Foxy in my studio making beats today! I walked in and she was sitting in the chair nodding her head with her paw on the fader. After she realized I was watching her then she got shy. She watched me numerous times, she'd better learn a craft besides hoggin my bed and eating and shitting.You don't believe me? I have some photos to prove it.

What's Been Going On ?

Well, I've just been busy this past week. Notice the last time I made a post was last Thurs. I have a lot to talk about when I post again, probably tomorrow. I have a ton of new pics as well. A thought about perfection........

Another long day today, I just got home from my interview with the Source Magazine. We discussed my label plans and my album. We also talked about my career from the beginning to now. (1991-2007)
On my way home I listened to my album a few times to analyze each song so I can be prepared when I go into the studio for the last time to redo my vocals and put the finishing touches on my songs that made the final cut. We still haven't decided on a 1st single but whatever it is, I'm ready.....I will have a discussion with radio promotions tomorrow to get feedback then I'm gonna sit with Conrad from Badboy and producer D Dot to arrange studio time. They're helping me with my project. I want them in the studio with me while I'm doing my vocals to make sure I dont over-think my vocal delivery and performance. If I record my vocals alone, trust me, I'll probably waste my time and re-record my verses 100 times when I wouldn't have to because I want it perfect. But, It's only a song ! Whats "perfect" anyways?

I think thats the excitement about this whole journey, trying to acheive something that doesn't exist, "perfection".

Sorry, no pics tonight. I'm tired and I look like shit right now. I'll take some pics when I wake up and hopefully Ms. Foxy Fame wont get stuck under my bed again and disturb my sleep.

Myspace Thoughts hmm...

Dont you hate when people on myspace send you tons of ads for gift cards, cell phones, ringtones, dick pills, and other "too good to be free" products. What makes it annoying is that they will send you 10 of the same emails. I dont have enough time as it is to open and read all of my mail, so when I see duplicates, I just delete them. If this applies to you, please dont send me that stuff. Thanks.... I actually maintain my personal myspace page..I never bothered to read any of those ads but i have a question, how much money do you make if someone clicks on the link and actually purchase that stuff? My Source Magazine Interview and taping got pushed back to Monday because I wasn't prepared and my bio re-write was delayed. Interview Pt 1

I was on my way to relax in bed until the phone started ringing. Part 1 of one of phoners was on the other line. The interview lasted for about 1 hour then we decided to take a break and resume at 9am. I plan to finish by 10am then I can start my day. All I really need is 5 hours of sleep to function so i'll be more than straight. This week is goin by so fast. It's Wed. already, damn...I was really done with this blog shit but the interviewer convinced me to continue my journal. Easy for her because writing is part of her career. OK? Now I'm about to take a piss and sleep.....GOODNIGHT !!!

Tired of this "Blog" thing already

I only made 1 posting and I feel I'm already over this blog thing. It's cool to keep a daily journal but its a lil bit time consuming and when I run out of steam for the day I dont wanna see anything but my BED. Tune in tomorrow and I'll fill you in on yesterday (if that makes any sense..lmao).........Don't worry, this only gets better, trust me!

Another Long Day......

Long day today. After 64 emails in my outbox from today alone, I still have two pages of work on my agenda for tomorrow. Let's see, Managing and organizing my royalties due (Mark Curry and I had a long phone convo about this today), pick up clothes for my magazine photoshoot/interview on wed and thurs, interviews with a few writers to complete my updated bio, haircut, meeting via telephone with my web designer for my new "Chinatown Music" website and Myspace page, and I am still a lil sick from the Diddy/Snoop European Tour. It's been about 5 days since i've been home. Shit, I need another assistant, feel free to send your resume. Well, i'm tired now, time to lay in bed and get off this computer. My wrists are sore. Maybe from operating protools about 80 hrs a week. I'm not the one to talk a lot anyways so, later.......
